I'd like to know how much on average it would cost to eat at Ruth Chris steakhous figuring all 2's meaning

2 drinks(not a bottle of wine), 2 appetizers, 2 entrees %26amp; 2 desserts--i'm thinking of giving someone a $100 gift card for Xmas %26amp; don't want them to be embarrassed if it wont be enough to cover(not counting tip/valet, etc)I'd like to know how much on average it would cost to eat at Ruth Chris steakhous figuring all 2's meaning
Min $100I'd like to know how much on average it would cost to eat at Ruth Chris steakhous figuring all 2's meaning
You will want to maybe think $150-200 for all that...I hope they are good friends!
That will probably run you close to 200 with tax and gratuity.I'd like to know how much on average it would cost to eat at Ruth Chris steakhous figuring all 2's meaning
That's perfect. The recipient will be very greatful.
Not a Ruth Chris fan. I suggest Morton's or Donovan's. Food and prices are much better. More for your $$I'd like to know how much on average it would cost to eat at Ruth Chris steakhous figuring all 2's meaning
Usually two people only order 1 apt and 1 dessert to split, but in the case that you gave, it will cost more than $100.00 especially with tip and all but I think a $100 gift certificate would be quite appropriate.
I would think that anyone would appreciate a Gift Card of $100 to any nice restaurant. For two people it should be very close to enough to cover what you described.
I would go closer to 150 even 200
It could be about $100 or more.
Double it.

  • Ruth's Chris Steak House Mints?

Okay this may be awkward but I once had a $50 meat at Ruth's Chris and I didn't really enjoy it, but the mint's they had after were something else, is there anywhere I could buy some more of these or are there any other mint's that just melts in your mouth like these?Ruth's Chris Steak House Mints?
I hear you this place is live 50/50. The Ribeye is the best there if you never had one. The mints can be bought at grocery stores. They are called after dinner mints i think

    Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

My boyfriend and I are both in college, so we don't have alot of money. Next weekend we are going to a comedy show, and we wanna make a date of it and go somewhere nice for dinner. He wants to go to Ruth's Chris for dinner and I am a little weary. I really don't want to spend more than $100. If we don't get drinks and just have a steaks, regular nonalcoholic drinks, sides, and a house salad would $100 be enough?

    ThanksRuth's Chris Steakhouse?
sorry to say, but no... food it self ranges 19- 50 something and drinks like coke, tea, and tea... i think it was 4 something and then you gotta think about tip... not tipping like 4-8 dollars...i mean my date and i went and we tipped 15 dollars... so with tip, tax, food, and drink you may need 100 plus a 20... i ate for 160 something with tip... and besides its not like your gonna eat there everyday so why not just spend for that one day a 100 plus =P Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
The average ticket price per person is $65 per person. They only use the top 2% of beef, and prepare steaks in an 1800 degree broiler. (can't reproduce that at home) It is true you could spend less and eat something comparable, but you'll be left with lots of dishes ect..

I've never understood this concept. Do you know how expensive that place is? Why pay $100 for something you are going to **** into the toilet the next day? Just go buy steaks from the store, cook em', light some candles, turn on a movie, and voila! You've got a more romantic evening than Ruth's Chris could ever give, and for 24x cheaper.Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
Nope. Honestly, go just for the sweet potatos if you even go. I'd go somewhere locally owned though, support your local economy. Plus the steaks really aren't that good, make them yourself and pour butter over them, same deal. maybe heat the plate up really hot for the ruth's chris experience.
$100.00 might cover it if you stay away from alcoholic drinks.

Personally, I think that the food at Ruth's Chris is terrible and isn't worth worth what they charge. I'm sure that there are much better restaurants in the area for that kind of money.Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
If there's a Black Aungus near you, then you can have an OK steak dinner w/no kiddies running around. If kids don't bother you then go to Sizzler. Otherwise, I gotta go with standup and say make it at home.
I doubt you'll get away with under $100. You can say that you won't have a drink, but once you're there, you may opt for the wine to compliment the beef. Ruth Chris' is pretty fancy and the steak is awesome! Good luck, enjoy!
If you are in Hawaii and the $100 is supposed to be for the both of you...that answer is 'no.'
yes if you order a side salad. entrees are about $35-$40/person. even if you order water, after tax and tip your $100 is spent.

Would you really get kicked out for wearing sweatpants in Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

They probably just wouldn't seat you in the first place. They can see you when you walk in. Its not like they have to seat you then all of a sudden they have vision.Would you really get kicked out for wearing sweatpants in Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
    I wouldnt think so.

Has anyone ever been to Ruth Chris Steak house...?

Is it expensive? Is it a good place to take your loved one for their birthday?Has anyone ever been to Ruth Chris Steak house...?
It'll cost about 50 bucks per person, more if have a bottle of wine or a few drinks with dinner. It's a wonderful establishment and the food is fantastic. My husband took me there on our anniversary last year and sometimes I dream about the sirloin I had :)Has anyone ever been to Ruth Chris Steak house...?
Its good steak - and you pay for the best.

Price doesn't include sides either, they're seaparate.

For the price it needs to be a special occasion (for me).
no i havent im sure its a good place for a bdayHas anyone ever been to Ruth Chris Steak house...?
Yes, it is expensive here in Orlando. My husband and I spent $103.00, but it is a very nice place to take someone for their birthday.
It is somewhat expensive plan to drop $100.00 for two people but it is the best steak I have ever had.Has anyone ever been to Ruth Chris Steak house...?
A very nice place to take some one for a birthday. It will run around $50.00 per person and it depends what you drink

that makes the bill add up. Like those speciality drinks.

    Yummy steak though.

    Have a great dinner.
Yes I've been there it was a great place, but its expensive and because of the location parking and valet also..........
yes it is EXPENSIVE but, I will also say the best steak and the side dishes are to die for.... and the bread pudding is the best i ever had...so what the hell have a great meal....and a good time
I've been to them all and by far in Chicago at least, the best steak is at Gene and Geogettis
I went to the one in Maui on vacation so we knew that it would be $$$ but hey, it was our anniversary trip.

An interesting note though, my wife and I both ordered the same steak, cooked the same way. She could not finish the last two bites of hers. So I did. And to my surprise her steak tasted better than mine did. I can not explain it.

The servers were professional, not in a stuffy way, and the desserts were very nice.

    I would recommend it.

  • Does Ruth Chris have a children's menu? Is it kid friendly?

yes they do have a kids menu but i would not say that it is very kids friendly. they have a cheeseburger, french fries, and an ice cream sundae, but those are the only options that i would consider "kid friendly". they also offer a pork chop, filet, half stuffed chicken breast, and grilled shrimp. another side option is mashed potatoes. and as the other person said, it is $17 no matter what you get, so even if your kid just gets a burger %26amp; fries you are still paying $17.

It will vary greatly depending on the cut of steak that you get. New York, Porterhouse, Rib eye, Filet....ect. The Rib Eye is the best value but not the cheapest. The add ons add up fast though. 2 crab cakes will set you back almost 20 dollars here. You two could have a very nice dinner here and keep it just under 100 bucks.

I am not a big steak/beef eater and only have eaten at Black Angus and Tahoe Joe a couple of times, any info would be helpful. ThanksReceived a gift certificate for Ruth Chris Steak house....?
Ruth Chris is very expensive. Your hubby can wear slacks, no tie required. It's higher end than Black Angus. Entrees run at least $25 and sides are extra. It's wonderful food, the appies are excellent, but bring your wallet. Unless the giftcard is at least $100, or you don't drink, you'll end up owing.

Enjoy!!Received a gift certificate for Ruth Chris Steak house....?

You'll love their food. Bring the gift card, it'll take the sting away. Just go enjoy yourselves and have a good time. Nothing comes free in this world, but you can enjoy a good time and good food there at a little lower cost out of pocket with your gift card. No ties necessary - and you don't wear shorts either. You make so much money there it's ridicluous. They don't hire just anybody, so I'm guessing you have an athletic build with a pretty face. I work at a Country club/golf resort here in Austin Tx. I see how well rich people who eat there tip the girls so i can just imagine how well they tip the staff at Ruth's Criss. If you think about it, you have 2 parties a night... one steak is $50-100 not including sides..... you get a table of 12 and you have at least a 2100 check.... then they give you an automatic 20% gratuity.. do the math. I would take that job in a heartbeat. What is it like waiting tables at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
It's great if you like beef-eating republicans wanting to grab your butt. I bet the money's pretty good. I've been in the kitchen of one and it smelled really bad.

Has anyone ever been to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

There is only 1 in Ohio and is looks nice so I was thinking about taking my husband there when he gets home from his Army duties. Is it a nice place? Is it expensive? It looks expensive which is fine I just want to be prepared. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I've already been to their website.Has anyone ever been to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
my company paid for 8 of us to go there for christmas so we could get whatever we wanted without worrying about the bill. the steak was absolutely excellent. i dont know if the website gives prices but a regular steak is about $40 and the bigger ones or ones with toppings (onions, etc) were about $50. no sides come with it. the sides come large enough for 2-3 people and i think they were about $8-10. i would not get appetizers because they were like $10 and came with 2 bites, we got an order of stuffed mushrooms and an order of scallops and they only came with 4 of each- not worth it!

so overall it is expensive but if you love steak and have the money for a nice treat for your husband i would recommend it!Has anyone ever been to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

I have been to the one in Columbus. Yes it is very nice and delicious!!

It is pricey, but hey you get what you pay for!

Take him!Has anyone ever been to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
Yes, I have been. They are extremely elegant, extremely good and extremely expensive. If you are out to impress, this is a very fine place to go.
I've been to the one in Destin, Florida (near where I live). The food was very good, the service was very good, the prices were way too high in my opinion. I won't go there again unless someone else is picking up the tab (a girlfriend and I took another friend there on his birthday).

For me, it wasn't worth the money. I can find meals at MANY other local restaurants that I'd enjoy just as much, for a fraction of the cost.Has anyone ever been to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
I've been there a few times. It is rather on the expensive side, compared to places like Outback and Texas Roadhouse. Also, when you order a steak, that's all that comes with the dish. The steak. All sides are a la carte. However, the side dishes are pretty large, and are big enough to share, if you just want to order one or two.

I think their steaks are really good. They were also serving venison chops when I was there. You are definitely paying for quality, but the food is worth it, especially for a special occasion. But be prepared to shell out a few $$, but you can't put a price on treating someone you love!

As far as dress goes, you would fit in better wearing something nice, although I did see people in jeans and T-shirts whenever I've been there. But since it's a special occasion, I'm sure you would want to dress up a little anyway.
    excellent
The steaks are wonderful!! Like butter!! You order things ala carte style...like if you want brocolli with your steak yo uhave to specify that, etc.... Enjoy!

Oh, and as the other poster said, it isn't cheap but it is worth it..Especially for a nice occasion.
I haven't been there. But as a native Texan and a confirmed beef steak addict, your husband would probably appreciate it.
No, no one's ever been to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

They have a 3 course price fix menu now also so you can get one meal off that for $40-$50. That is your salad, meat and one side and small dessert. Otherwise, if you don't want to do the price fix you can choose your steak and do family sides which are enough for 2. So steak for each person and two sides that you can share would run around $100. Ruth's isn't so much fancy as it is traditional. Very Gentleman's club like atmosphere, like most high end steak joints. The original one is in New Orleans on N. Broad St. It is nothing fancy. Originally it was the Chris Steak House and "Ruth" Fertell was a waitress there. She worked long and hard, and when the owner retired she bought the business. The Chris Steak House was so well known that she decided to keep the name and just put hers as showing ownership. All the food is really fine, but at a price, enjoyHow fancy is chris and ruth's steak house?

We were invited to a dinner at Ruth Chris Steak House and asked to review and submit a survey after dinner. The green flavor or Menthol was the most accepted flavor. How much should i be expecting to spend on dinner for four at Ruth's Chris Steak House?

At Ruth's Chris, everything is a la carte. That means there's a price for your steak. If you want a salad, that's extra. Potatoes cost extra. Vegetables cost extra.

$60 is going to get 2 hamburgers, 2 sodas, and one side dish.

Most of the steaks at Ruth's Chris cost more than $30. Obviously their prices vary around the US. A filet that costs $52 in New York City may only cost $32 in the midwest, where the stockyards and slaughterhouses are located.

For a steak, a salad, a potato,a vegetable, and a tea/coffee/soda for each person, definitely plan on spending $55 to $85 PER PERSON. Desserts can cost between $7 and $20 per person. A bottle of wine or individual glasses of wine are quite pricey.

By the time you add in tax and tip - and again, depending on exactly which city you're in - you can expect to spend anywhere from $250 to $500 on dinner for 4.

Don't forget that you can go to the restaurant ahead of time and ask them for a copy of their menu with prices. How much should i be expecting to spend on dinner for four at Ruth's Chris Steak House?
I'd set aside at least $50 per person..... Depends on whether you have adult bev, desserts, appetizers.... Dinners run $30-45 plus..... by the time you add tax, tip, etc.... How much should i be expecting to spend on dinner for four at Ruth's Chris Steak House?

What does "Ruth's Chris steak" mean?

What does the "Chris" part mean? Ruth has got to be the person who makes the steak, but where does this Chris guy fit in? Is it actually pieces of meat from the body of Chris?

Regardless, it's a very stupid name and I hope the restaurant fails because of it.

What does "Ruth's Chris steak" mean?
The chain was founded by the late Ruth Fertel, a single mother of two, in 1965, after she bought the existing Chris Steak House in New Orleans. In buying the restaurant, Fertel had to agree that the restaurant keep the "Chris" name for a specified period of time. After the original location sustained a kitchen fire, she relocated the restaurant about one-half mile to the west on Broad Street and renamed the rebuilt establishment "Ruth's Chris." Under the purchase agreement, the name "Chris Steak House" could not be used at any other location, and she did not want to lose customers already familiar with the Chris name. Fertel started to franchise the restaurant in the 1970s to locations throughout the United States and throughout the world.

(angry much)What does "Ruth's Chris steak" mean?
Mergers is exactly right. And the information is also available on the Ruth's Chris web site, so you could have looked it up for yourself faster and easier than you posted a question here. You could even have clicked their "contact us" link to let their public relations people know how stupid you think their name and their owners are. What does "Ruth's Chris steak" mean?
I guess it means the same thing as McDonalds or Chili's or whatnot, just a name! I've seen those around and wonder the same thing, it really does strike me as a stupid name, and I've heard it's very pricey, I probably wouldn't go even if I DID like steak, the name kinda turns me off!

How much is a dinner for two at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

Ruth Chris prices can range do to everything is a la carte meaning your order your apps, salads, steak, and sides are all separate and not included as most high steak houses do. The price for two is about $70 a person(can be higher depending on the cut of meat you order and sides) and I would recommend bringing your own bottle of wine because their wine prices are overpriced considering normal restaurant pricing (when calling to make reservations ask how much their corkage fee which is the price they charge to open your bottle of wine).

I generally order the filet mignon with lyonnaise potatoes and if you like sweet potatoes their casserole is delicious. The sides easily serve two so if you want to save money here you could do that essentially. I enjoy the bread pudding for desert at Ruth's. btw the steaks are served on plates heated to 500 degrees so be careful and I normally order a my steak cooked a temperature lower because your steak will cook on the plate as you eat or you can always ask for a side plate. If you are going just already have it set in your mind that its going to cost 50 dollars more than you intended to spend so you dont have remorse after eating such a nice meal.

Sometimes you need to take the time to do something unexpected and enjoy yourselves but personally I can make a great steak at home so if you like let me know and I'll send you the recipe. Ruth Chris is really all about the consistent service more than anything thats why its good for special occasion's. Either way you are sure to have a great evening no matter what you decide. How much is a dinner for two at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

An arm and a leg. But, seriously, its going to be expensive. As with any a la carte restaurants, if you're used to dinner with the sides and all, you're going to pay a lot more. Its pretty expensive though, so be prepared.
O.K., I'm a food server @ a Steakhouse type place, and honestly we're around 20-30- buks for a cut of beef. I cannot even imagine, no matter how much money i could blow, to spend some ungodly amount of money on a stupid *** steak. I could think of other things i would rather be spending my hard earned $$ on than some 70.00 Steak. Be reasonable, remember there's the 20% tip, and all the rest of the bells and whistles. Depends what you order. If you order wine? etc. There were 5 of us and it cost us approx $1000 without tipping. Its quite costly but very enjoyable. We also had 2 bottles of expensive wine, and a couple of drinks each. Beautiful restaurant I highly recommend it.

As a couple of the other posters said, you should be prepared to spend about $100. I've been to Ruth's Chris in Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami. The service is superb, the food is superb as well. They have an ala carte menu. Each side serves at least 2-3 people. If you're going to have a bottle of wine, then you can expect to spend about $125. All in all, the dining experience should be exceptional.Has anyone been to the Ruth Chris Steak house in Edmonton Alberta? If so, what should i expect? How expensive?
Depending what you order it's approximately $80 - $100 (CDN). The steaks come as is. No sides. We had to order a side of fries and mashed potatoes. We had about 4 or 5 thick cut fries for about $7. The steaks were average.

All in all, I've never gone again. Hope your experience is better.Has anyone been to the Ruth Chris Steak house in Edmonton Alberta? If so, what should i expect? How expensive?

My husband and I are going to Ruth Chris's Steakhouse tomorrow for Thanksgiving at 1:30pm

The dress code says "Business casual, no jacket required."

I do have a pair of "MIss me jeans) there really nice paid $200 for them, and a dressy shirt, and flats? will that be okay?Business casual, no jacket required ? Ruth Chris?
Jeans are not "business casual" no matter how much you paid for them.

Wear a skirt and a blouse, something to coordinate with the khakis and shirt your husband will probably wear. The dress code is the minimum level you have to achieve, not the maximum. So there is nothing wrong in showing up in something more dressy if that is all that you have.Business casual, no jacket required ? Ruth Chris?
You can wear jeans to Ruth's Chris. They are not going to turn you away for wearing jeans. Especially for a girl, jeans are completely okay. I have eaten there in flip flops and shorts. On a day like Thanksgiving they are going to be full of old people that dress like crap, so don't worry about it at all.Business casual, no jacket required ? Ruth Chris?
I don't know about who ever said where anything you wont lol one in New Orleans one year kick my friend out for jeans another time for our shoes lol So kinda depends who's at the front of the house the night/day you go =) lol But yes dress up to go there and have fun =)Business casual, no jacket required ? whenever I hear the word business casual, I think of khaki pants with a polo shirt OR just really nice pants even paired with a dressy shirt. Think like golf clothes lol.

I also have a really nice pair of jeans that I paid a lot for, and i always wear them to nice events with a dressy shirt and always fit right in. I'm going to say the outfit you're thinking of wearing will be perfect. Just as long as there's no rips in the jeans and the shirt isn't too revealing

How do you grill a steak and have it turn out like a Ruth's Chris steak?

Obviously a good cut is needed, like a ribeye, but how would I grill it and garnish it to turn out and taste like a steak you get at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse? I ate there for the first time recently and the steak was amazing. How do you grill a steak and have it turn out like a Ruth's Chris steak?
They actually pan broil/sear their steaks (filet, ribeye, NY strip, porterhouse, and T-bone) with butter at 1800 degrees in a special proprietry broiler. They use really thick cuts so they don't dry out under the intense heat, and the only seasoning they use is salt and pepper. We have a couple here in Phoenix and I've eaten there on a few occasions. It is definitely one of a kind. How do you grill a steak and have it turn out like a Ruth's Chris steak?
If you get the book "The Best Recipe" either buy it or from the library, they have all the secrets. Every recipe has been tested numerous ways and they publish the best one. Aaaah, the DELICIOUS Ruth's Chris Steak! Yummy! A taste that can be compared to a steak NOWHERE else! First, they sear the steak at 1800 degrees, which locks all the flavor inside. Then it's cooked to your liking. I have absolutely NO IDEA how they get 1800 degrees from (stove?). Good luck, and if you ever figure it out - let me know the trick too, OK?How do you grill a steak and have it turn out like a Ruth's Chris steak?

It all depends on what you get. The way that they do their menu is that you pay for the main entree PLUS any sides, such as mashed potatoes or a baked potato. You also have to consider the drinks. I went there with my husband and we each got 1 side and 1 drink and we ender up spending about $110.00, plus tax. It's a beautiful restaurant and the food it great.

You don't have to dress formal, but you'll probably want to at least dress somewhat conservatively.. A decent pair of jeans or khakis and a polo shirt would fit right in. I'm pretty sure there's no age limit to get in. It's just a restaurant, not a bar.

I've been on their website, which, of course, does not list prices. I'd love to go someday for a special occasion, but realize I'll have to save up for it.

Also can you tell me what you had?

Thanks for the info!Have you been to Ruth's Chris Steak House? Was it worth it? How much did you spend on dinner for two?
Ruth's Chris is well worth the price you will pay for it! We love going there! I was spoiled in college to have a roomate who was a manager at the local one, so even as a starving college student, I ate there regularly!

And no, there are no prices listed anywhere, that is how you tell the quality of the resturaunt. I actually have an uncle who's motto is, if you have to ask how much, then you obviously can't afford it! Well, let me tell you this, if you want a filet or 16 or 20 oz steak with sides, appetizer, dessert, and a few drinks you need to have at least $150 - $200 on you! If you can't afford that right now, save it up, you don't want to go there and not be able to kive it up while you're there!

We spend an average of $200.00 when we are there, but we generally have a NICE bottle of wine, and my husband will have a few mixed drinks, along with apps and a full meal and dessert!

I enjoy the surf and turf, our local one, since it's Louisiana has Shrimp and Crawfish specials-Yummy! And my husband usually has a special cut 20 oz! We generally have Au Gratin Potatoes and then tirimisu.

The service is AMAZING! You will feel like a rock star! So live it up and enjoy the experience and the food!Have you been to Ruth's Chris Steak House? Was it worth it? How much did you spend on dinner for two?
The best steak you will EVER eat, but you will pay the price. Let's say you have the surf and turf and your companion has the prime rib, with a couple drinks and tiramisu for dessert. You will pay roughly $80 plus tip, valet, coat check, so figure around $100. This is a once in a lifetime thing for some folks, so go ahead and enjoy it.Have you been to Ruth's Chris Steak House? Was it worth it? How much did you spend on dinner for two?
I went there once with my now-ex-husband. He had some kind of steak, I had veal. And since it was my birthday and we were at a convention and it was a Monday, I ordered a bottle of Mumms. Total bill was somewhere around $150. We practically had the dining room to ourselves, the waitress was impeccable, she told the kitchen it was my b-day and I got free dessert. I tipped $50. The food and service was top-notch.

So about $200 for two people. But you don't have to get the $50 (way too marked up) champagne. But it was a special occasion and I wanted the champagne! :) Very well worth it.Have you been to Ruth's Chris Steak House? Was it worth it? How much did you spend on dinner for two?
Here was my experience. 8 Couples went together. Everything was separately priced. You ordered meat $25.00 to $50.00 per serving and sides were five or six dollars each. They were enough for two. The food was good, not fabulous but very nice.

Service was good but not worth the price.

We did have several bottles of wine and the final bill for this group was $1600.00 including tip. So as you can tell it is not cheap. This was in 7 years ago, so pricing has probably gone up.

I would say for a couple it will certainly be $100.00 plus.

I had a fillet, potatoes augratin. That is as much as I remember, I was in a wheel chair with a broken leg and on drugs.
It's great food, especially for a "chain."

Expect to spend between $20-35 per entree. The entrees do not come with side dishes, so if you want veggies or potatoes or whatever, you'll have to add between $5-10 for each side dish.

As you can see, the bill can easily reach $100. It is very tasty and I definitely recommend it. I've been to their restaurants in Seattle, Chicago, and L.A. and the quality has been very good each time.

It is a very nice upscale restaurant. A man needs to wear a jacket, and a tie may be required. A woman should wear a nice outfit that isn't too casual. Nice pants or a skirt and a top or a dress would be acceptable.

business casual is okay especially in Ft Lauderdale - men can wear a tie if you like but not required.

men = slacks or khakis and dress shirt (polo shirt....if you really want - they won't turn you away)

ladies = slacks, skirt, or dress

you really want to avoid shorts although I have seen people wearing them

    again, it is Ft Lauderdale

it is an upscale steakhouse so if you WANT to dress up you can.

    Ruth Chris steaks?

I ate at Ruth Chris for lunch today. I always love eating there. I have always wondered how they make their steaks sizzle on the hot plate when the put it in front of me. Does any one have any ideas?

Plus their creamed Spinach is always the best.Ruth Chris steaks?
Ruth Chris does have great steaks. What makes them so good is that they always have a beautiful crust on the outside. Part of the trick of getting that crust is starting with dry meat and a REALLY hot oven. When they cook their steaks, they sear them in an 1800 degree oven. They also heat the plates so the food doesn't get cold as it's being plated and brought to the table. When you get your steak, it's usually sizzling because it's been in an oven that hot and hitting a hot plate.

Since conventional ovens in a house only hit 500-600 degrees, you can imagine why it's hard to do this at home and what makes Ruth Chris steaks so good.

And their creamed spinach is the best. Here's the link for the recipe if you ever want to try it. I usually make it every holiday and I get rave reviews...hope this helped!!!

    Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

For Christmas, my brother and I want to surprise my parents with a giftcard to Ruth Chris's Steakhouse. About how much would it be for 2 people?Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
Too much. And how do you know they would have a bill that is up to the amount for the gift card? Instead, give cash or an American Express gift card that they can use anywhere they wish.Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
    $200.00

depends how much drinking they do!Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
You can get away with $100 only if they eat from the special dinner menu (think like the 2 for $20 at applebee's), but go over as they may want wine as well.Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
I'd give them at least $100 as everything on their menu is ordered "a la carte" which means when you order a steak, that's all they bring you, salads and any veggies are separate and bottles of wine or cocktails add up quickly so they could easily rack up well over the $100. If you really want to be sure the entire meal is picked up you and your bro, give your parents your bank card or credit card to pay for anything over the amount of the gift. Obviously, if you buy a gift card for $200 and they only spend $170, what will they do with the extra $30?

Good luck, I wish you were one of my kids!
For two people probably $150.00 - $200.00 depending on what is ordered and if wine will be the choice of drink or not. Have fun.

They use a top quality beef that was raised just for them using their standards. They use a patented broiler that I hear gets up to 1600 or 1800 degrees that would not be doable at home, and they use garlic butt on them to season.

To get a great steak, you have to start out with a great piece of beef - that is half the battle.

I agree, they have one of the better slices of cow available.

edited to add: And I would guess that they dry age their beef. The best steaks are dry aged 6-8 weeks. But any dry ageing is generally better than wet aging using enzymes.Looking for how Ruth's Chris cook their steaks, not recipe 4 garlic butter!?
To get that tenderness and still have a crust on the outside you need to do two things. Put a tablespoon of butter in a skillet on high, and sear the steak on both sides for about a minute and a half, or until brown ( don't cook it any longer than two a side)....Then take the steak in the pan, and put it in a 375 degree oven for about 10-15 minutes depending on the way you like it (10-11 for Rare-Med. • Which is the fancier steakhouse? Morton's, Capital Grill, Flemmings or Ruth Chris?

I am taking my girlfriend of 10 months out to meet my mother so I want to impress both of them. Price is not a factor. I want the best place.

I live in Orlando, Florida so if you have another idea by all means....Which is the fancier steakhouse? Morton's, Capital Grill, Flemmings or Ruth Chris?
Morton's. Very traditional, old-style steakhouse. And I somewhat disagree--the absolute best steaks I've ever had have always come from the fancy, expensive steakhouses. You pay that kind of money for steak, you gotta get something for it.Which is the fancier steakhouse? Morton's, Capital Grill, Flemmings or Ruth Chris?
You don't impress by taking folks to the fanciest steakhouse. You impress by being yourself. Self-assured confidence goes a long way towards that.

Do both your sweetheart and mom enjoy a nice steak? If not, it would be pretentious to take them to an expensive steakhouse. Make sure that you know what they both like (and you too) so everyone can be comfortable and be themselves.

Dressing to the nines can be uncomfortable for some and you obviously want this first meeting to go well. For others, it's an absolute must. Now go with your instincts and good luck!Which is the fancier steakhouse? Morton's, Capital Grill, Flemmings or Ruth Chris?

How expensive is Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

I know it is very pricey, but i was wondering about a range of the entrees and sides were. I was thinking of going there but i want to have enough. So i guess my question how much would a full meal cost with a salad, entree, side and dessert? Thanks so much guys! How expensive is Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
It is expensive, say about $60-75 total before tip. Technically you could split a steak -- many of them are huge to begin with.

Be warned: the side dishes are served family style, meaning that 3-4 people can EASILY share one side dish! Whoever you are going with, decide in advance what you like and what you'd want to share. It will help keep the tab down. You can also split the salad. Skip the dessert, you'll be darn full! How expensive is Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

You can expect a mnimum of $60 per person excluding alcohol, definitely worth it though :)

Enjoy! How expensive is Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
Great steaks!! Not any where near the price tag though. Seriously, you can get out for about $70/person. If that is OK, go for it, I just think you can get as good a meal for about half that in most cities that are large enough to support a Ruth's Chris.
im sure its not to muchHow expensive is Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
I think the prices are probably slightly different based on where you are in the country, but I would you have to assume at least $60 per person, not including if you are going to have alcohol. That is also assuming a person eats all four courses you mentioned. The portions there are big though, so you might not eat as much as you thought.
At Ruth's Chris, everything is separate. Nothing is included. If you order steak ($35), well you get a steak. Nothing else. Add an appetizer for $13, a baked potato for about $10, a roasted tomato $7, the cheapest bottle of wine for $35. Toss in dessert for $15. And that's just one person.

BTW, the price quoted for the lobster is by the pound - something like $35 - per pound! That's a crime!

To their credit, though, the atmosphere was most delightful, the service was impeccable ... but in this day and age, I can't see spending that much money for a little bit of food, that quite frankly, wasn't all that.

Too expensive - Longhorn Steakhouse is a better deal!

  • Business casual, no jacket required ? Ruth Chris?

My husband and I are going to Ruth Chris's Steakhouse tomorrow for Thanksgiving at 1:30pm

The dress code says "Business casual, no jacket required."

    (its in Knoxville Tennessee)

    What do I wear?

    I have no "slacks"

I do have a pair of "MIss me jeans) there really nice paid $200 for them, and a dressy shirt, and flats? will that be okay?Business casual, no jacket required ? Ruth Chris?
Definitely no to the jeans, doesn't matter how much you paid for them. If you have a skirt, wear that instead. Dressy shirt is fine. I would wear a shoe with a heel but that's my preference. One piece of clothing to make sure you have on hand is a pair of black pants/slacks. That's one thing that should be in every woman's wardrobe. You will definitely use them.

I'm in So Cal where we tend to be more casual. But even here we dress up a bit for certain restaurants. Ruth Chris is one of them.Business casual, no jacket required ? Ruth Chris?
Anytime you see the word "Business" in the attire choice jeans are NEVER acceptable. Business casual would be khaki pants and a golf shirt type attire. And although it says no jacket required,I'd still make my husband wear one. For me business casual would be a sheath dress, low heels and light makeup.

Seeing as how I went to The University of Florida,I could go off on a Vol rant here, but I'll refrain my self just this once.

Chicago Chop House or Ruth Chris?

The boyfriend and I are taking a small weekend getaway in Chicago. We wanted to go out for a romantic steak dinner. I have looked into it a bit and found the Chicago Chop House and Ruth Chris to be of some interest. Can anyone tell me which they would choose, or if they can suggest another place. He's kinda picky so a steakhouse is what we need. All suggestions are welcome though! Thanks!!Chicago Chop House or Ruth Chris?
I have never been to the Chop House in Chicago. It is probably top notch. I have been to many Ruth Chris places across the U.S. It is expensive, but it is very good. All sides are a la ca-rte. The sides are enough for two. Grab a steak, salad, and two sides of you choice. It will be plenty. The service has always been top notch. With some drinks you are looking at 150-200 for a great meal. He will not be disappointed with the steak. I have found that I like the stand alone Ruth Chris restaurant as opposed to the RC in Hotels.Chicago Chop House or Ruth Chris?
Last I heard, the news was out about Ruth Chris. Way not worth the price. They bank on people thinking big price equals great food. Ain't necessarily so.Chicago Chop House or Ruth Chris?

  • What do you rember most about eating at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

I started working there like three months ago.. I am An S/A ( service assistant) its like a high ranking bus boy if you ask me. I am awesome at my job and like it very much. Pays awesome too. But i want to be better at it. So i ask this as a blog. What do You rember most besides the great steaks.. i mean service wise. What do you rember most about eating at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
What I remember the most about our one visit, to the Toronto restaurant in 2001, was how disappointed we were. The place was vastly overrated. Not the decor, which was richly appointed in dark wood and leather, very 'old gentlemen's club' feel to it. Not the service, which was what you would expect for an expensive restaurant. But the value for what you got. Everything was ala carte, which we did not know going in. $11 for mashed potatoes for two, in 2001 prices? $7 for a salad? $30 for the filet mignon was pricey for the time, but not outrageous, however, that is for an entre, which is inclusive of side dishes. The steak was very good and cooked to order, and the serving on the hot platter, the trademark 'sizzle', was a nice touch, but the filet was not any better than what is available at the top restaurants where we live. Maybe we expected too much from the advertised hype, but Ruth's Chris did not leave a lasting impression except for the fact that we are in no hurry to return.

To celebrate our 30th anniversary this month, we went to a local place we hadn't been to in twenty years, we used to go there often for the prime rib they were noted for. We don't eat prime rib anymore, we are filet mignon people now, much lower in fat. I've eaten a lot of it on our travels. At this place, a 12 ox filet served with a burgundy mushroom sauce and done to perfection, served with the two aforementioned sides, was $28, and was among the very best in flavor and tenderness that I've ever had.

The point of all this is, it doesn't matter how top-notch your service is, if the value for the money paid isn't there for the meal itself, that service is overlooked. Something to keep in mind if you plan a career in food service. I'm no cheapskate, we routinely tip 20% unless things are absolutely horrible, because we know how tough a living it is for servers and bussing staff, and 25% for exceptional food and service. But I work hard for my money and I expect value for my buck. Ruth's Chris was all sizzle and very little steak. What do you rember most about eating at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
You must get to be a server to make the bucks. Smile, be genuine, you seem to have the right attitude, you will probably do well. Be professional, study the menu, talk to the cooks, know your product. Advise your customers. Don't forget to subtly urge people to ask for you as a server(good tippers only!) Make suggestions after asking people about their preferences. Suggest your favorites if they are popular.Know which dishes will fill up a big guy, which are lighter, which are vegetarian. Never ask is everything O.K.Ask is everything perfect! Offer to make it perfect.
Actually, the one thing my husband and I still mention was the fellow who swept the crumbs off the table between diner and dessert. I remember that all of the waitstaff were very attentive and friendly, but mostly i remember the crumb sweeping. What do you rember most about eating at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
I ate at the one in San Diego and it was so good even though they were totally expensive. I really dont remember the service so maybe you could do that. Make the customers visit memorable of something other than just the steak.
haha that is the greatest restaurant EVER

of course besides the steaks....i like some of the stories the waiters tell. or when people are very attentive to things. ie when u r done or when u need drinks or something like that.

hope i helped =]What do you rember most about eating at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
I like when my waitress knows that I need a refill or napkins

How do they sautee thier mushrooms at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

I always thought that sauteeing means frying them... no?... Their mushrooms are whole and look like they were boiled or something...How do they sautee thier mushrooms at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
They are probably sauteed in butter - and saut茅eing does mean frying - specifically on a fryingpan, at not too high a temperature, and usually in clarified butter.

Mushrooms are spongy - so they soak up the melted butter. But the slightly lower temperature keeps the water, they "sweat" from evaporating from the pan, so they do in effect boil in the butter-water, which keeps them from forming a hard, golden, fried surface.

    I haven't been to Ruth's Chris since I was in NY last - that's 12 years ago!!

But my guess would be, that for really great saut茅ed mushrooms, the chef at Ruth's Chris would add a little freshly-ground white pepper and a small squirt of lemonjuice to the mushrooms, about 陆-way through the saut茅eing. How do they sautee thier mushrooms at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
Sauteing is cooking in a small amount of fat over a lower heat than frying. The aim of frying is to sear the outside-of sauteing, to gently cook it.

I'm curious-do you not have this steakhouse in your area or are the prices just too outrageous?

They both specialize in beef and potatoes.

They both precook some foods and then just recook them a little for service (frozen french fries and a lot of the more time-consuming dishes are par-cooked).

They both employ people paid at low wages, but you don't see them at the steakhouse (the dishwasher and prep cooks are likely poorly paid immigrants).

They both are traded publicly on the stock exchange.

They both were founded as a small business, and another entrepreneur bought them from the original owners and expanded them into national chains. What are some similarities between McDonalds and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

    Lump Crab Cakes Recipe

    Ingredients:

    1/2 pound jumbo lump crabmeat

1/2 pound special crabmeat (also called regular, deluxe, flake or white)

    1 egg

    5 tablespoons mayonnaise

    1 tablespoon parsley

    2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

    1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

    1 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon white pepper

    4 ounces Japanese-style panko breadcrumbs

    Directions:

Remove the shells from the crabmeat, being careful not to break up the meat. Place in a stainless steel mixing bowl.

In another mixing bowl, mix together the egg, mayonnaise, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and pepper. Mix in the breadcrumbs.

Pour the mayonnaise mixture over the crabmeat. Using a rubber spatula, fold this mixture into the crabmeat gently but thoroughly. Be careful not to break up the jumbo lumps. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Form the mixture into six crab cakes (4 oz. each). Gently shape the cakes, but do not overwork them. Place each one in a parchment-lined sheet pan. (These can be stored, covered, in the refrigerator until ready to cook.)

To broil, preheat the broiler and adjust the oven rack to the middle shelf. Place the cakes in a buttered, oven-proof dish. Broil on the middle shelf until brown on top. Gently turn the cakes over and continue cooking until brown on top and cooked through.Does anyone have a lump crab cake recipe similar to Ruth's Chris?

    1 tb unsalted butter; melted

    1 tb graham cracker crumbs

    2 lb regular cream cheese

    1 1/4 c sugar

    4 lg eggs

    1 ts lemon zest

    2 ts vanilla extract

    1/4 c heavy cream

    1/4 c sour cream

    Instructions

Adjust oven rack to middle position and preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Place foil over bottom disk of a 9-inch springform pan, tucking excess

underneath disk; assemble pan. Pull up foil around pan sides. Brush

interior of pan with butter. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs into pan,

tilting it in all directions to coat evenly with crumbs. Cover exterior

of pan with a sheet of heavy-duty foil and set in a large roasting pan.

Bring a kettle of water to a boil for water bath.

Meanwhile, beat cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.

Gradually add sugar and beat on medium speed until it is fully

incorporated, about 3 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until

just incorporated and scraping down bowl after each addition. Add zest

and vanilla and beat until just incorporated. Stir in cream and sour

    cream by hand.

Pour batter into springform pan. Set roasting pan on oven rack, set

springform pan in it, and pour in enough boiling water to come about

halfway up the side of springform pan. Bake until perimeter of cake is

set but center jiggles when pan is tapped, 55 to 60 minutes. Turn off

heat and leave oven door ajar, using a long-handled kitchen fork or spoon

if necessary to hold it open for 1 hour. Remove springform pan from water

bath and set on a wire rack; cool to room temperature. Cover and

refrigerate until chilled, at least 4 hours. Cheesecake can be

refrigerated for up to 4 daysAnyone knows the recipe to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse's Homemade Cheesecake?

How much is a meal (on average) for one person at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?

My fiance and I got a $100 gift certificate there for Christmas... just wondered how much extra we might have to pay out of pocket. Thanks! How much is a meal (on average) for one person at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
Well since everything is ala carte there $100 should get you by for both your meals as long as you don't drink any wine or anything. I would bring a little bit extra to cover a tip just to be on the safe side.

You are so lucky to be going there...I LOVE Ruth Chris and it's been quite awhile since I have had the chance to go...ENJOY!!! Yummy!!!How much is a meal (on average) for one person at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
It's been a while but it's pretty pricey. Nice gift certificate though. Everything there is a la carte. You can check out their menu at www.ruthschris.com but it gives no prices. It is wonderful so do enjoy.
Most entrees are $25-$35 (no sides)

    Side Salads are about $7

All side dishes are $10-$12 (you can share side dishes)

    Desserts are $10-$15

You do the math. How much is a meal (on average) for one person at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
A hint: eat lunch there and you will stretch your gift certificate, still get a great meal and have enough for drinks, too. Most of their dinner entrees are around 25-35 but there are more that are higher than that, too.
I took my boyfriend there last year for his birthday. He got a steak %26amp; a side, I got lobster %26amp; a side. We also got mixed drinks %26amp; an appetizer %26amp; it all came out to $143.00. So if you guys want to splurge a little, maybe 50-60 extra dollars would be a good help. But if splurging isn't what you'll be doing; I definately think you'll be able to pull off the $100.00. Just be smart about it. :)How much is a meal (on average) for one person at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse?
they're pretty pricey and everything is ala carte. but a hundred bucks for 2 is about right. Just don't drink too much. A salad, a nice steak, a couple of sides and a drink or 2 each will run about 80 buckaroos
the average meal at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse should run you:

    $ an arm + $ a leg.

Thankfully that gift certif. will help defray that cost.

How do you make Ruth's Chris stuffed chicken breast from scratch?

ingredients plus cooking instructions please. How do you make Ruth's Chris stuffed chicken breast from scratch?
It is a spatchcocked cornish game hen. You have to let it sit to room temperature, then, after spatchcocking it, work your fingers under the skin to separate it from the meat. Stuff it with an herb cheese, ( Boursins is good) or mix cream cheese with a packet of ranch dressing mix. Rub the outside with oil and salt and pepper and bake in a HOT oven (500 degrees) for 25 minutes. Serve with lemon butter and......Voila! 50 bucks in your pocket and a beautiful bird in your tummy.

Which is better for an upscale dinner - The Chophouse or Ruth's Chris?

My boyfriend and I are spending a weekend in Washington, DC before he deploys to Iraq and I want to take him to a great steakhouse. I'm making him wear his blues and getting dressed up myself, so is one of the restaurants fancier than one? I know Ruth's Chris in Arlington is in a cool building with city views...is The Chophouse in a cool location as well? I know they're both pricey, but I'm looking for a restaurant where we won't look completely out of place. ;-) Thanks so much!Which is better for an upscale dinner - The Chophouse or Ruth's Chris?

    Ruth's Chris, period.

You won't look out of place anywhere in the area if he's in uniform. This is DC and everything around it is just a suburb of that. Lots of military... every branch - lol No one will notice what you're wearing. They'll be too busy tearing up and slobbering over the soldier you're with :)

Enjoy... and try not to worry yourself to death every day he's gone. Just take a deep breath, let go and let God. I wish you both well...
The Palm is good. But Ruth Chris is the "BEST'' Get the prime rib , it is very good.Which is better for an upscale dinner - The Chophouse or Ruth's Chris?

Happy dining, good luck and why yes, I'd love a doggie bag... LOL @;~}The website doesn't say, How expensive is Ruth Chris Steak house?
yeah youre gonna pay at least $30 for a steak. The website doesn't say, How expensive is Ruth Chris Steak house?
They are very expensive. The steaks run about $30-$40 each.

Plus, all of your side orders (potatoes, veggies, and the like) are served a la carte -- that is, you pay for them separately, too. Note, however, that they are sized for two people, and even then, its a large serving.

Expect a two person dinner to cost a minimum of $100, before the tip, and probably more, especially if you order appetizers, alcohol and/or desserts.

However, it will be one of the best steak dinners you ever had. The food is incredible, and the service is amazing.
I've eaten at two great steakhouses in my life. Ruth Chris and her brother's place Sig's in Port Sulphur, Louisiana.( Long gone) I was once told if you have to ask how much....you can't afford it. My wallet was emptied but I was full.

Go for it and enjoy. It will be well worth the price. The website doesn't say, How expensive is Ruth Chris Steak house?
It's a good thing you are doing your research now. NOTE: There were no prices in the menu when we went %26amp; it's in poor taste to ask how much something is.

Approximately $70 per person; my husband looked it up on the internet while we were in DC, under "fine dining". Don't forget to include your state's taxes and any other taxes.

My husband and I went there several years ago to celebrate his birthday, It was around $100 AND did not include the tip. [We tip 20%] Maybe double this (not the tip) due to inflation, and don't be stingy on the tip. We went to the one in Houston TX.

I ordered Lobster and was pleasantly surprised to receive the WHOLE thing. [in the event you want seafood, REMEMBER: market price]
Fairly expensiveThe website doesn't say, How expensive is Ruth Chris Steak house?
My wife and I ate there a few weeks ago for around $140 (including tip.)
I eat our quite a bit and Ruth Cris like Mortons and other franchise steakhouses are absurdly overpriced. Not that someone dying for a good steak won't spend 30-40 dollars in any good restaurant, but if you want to add a salad, potato and vegetable you have raised that 40 dollar steak to a $70 meal. Now assume that you want a drink before dinner, a glass of wine during and coffee and cake at the end, you have moved the needle to $100+ per person. and to me $240 (with tip) for 2 people looking for a steakand potato dinner is bizarre anywhere.
