Going to a B'Way show Oct 17th - best transportation?

We are going to see Wicked on Oct 17th, coming from RI. Doing the matinee and then dinner at Ruth's Chris after that. The last train leaves NY Penn at 7 PM - way too soon - we cannot stay overnight because of other obligations. How can we get downtown from CT - maybe a Park and Ride and then the subway? How do we get there from here?Going to a B'Way show Oct 17th - best transportation?
Peter Pan runs from RI to NYC

The fare is roughly US$85.00 round trip and US$45.00 One Way from Kennedy Plaza in downtown Providence, RI or the Peter Pan terminal in Providence.

If you have to drive, $8-$15 parking is in Weehawken, NJ by the ferry that comes over to Manhattan.

Don't bother driving to the New York City, because you will get stuck in traffic and parking will be very difficult to find, especally during matinees.

My advice take train. You can drive to New Haven, CT and hop on Metro-North's New Haven Line, which will take you from there to Grand Central Terminal. Metro-North is cheaper and more frequent than Amtrak.

Once in the City, you can take the subway or walk to Times Square.

Around trip off peak ticket on the Metro-North's New Haven Line from New Haven to the City will cost you $28 and the trip take between 60 and 90 minutes. The fare on the subway is $2.25 each way ($4.50 round).

Now, Metro-North train service runs later than Amtrak. The last New Haven-bound train departs from Grand Central at about 11:30pm.

Good luck
