What to wear to a wedding that a your fiance is surprising you with?

I am getting married in November. The problem is, my wedding isn't a normal wedding. My fiance is planning everything and i am just suppose to show up. From what i understand the "wedding" is just going to be on the docks of downtown Annapolis with his friend marrying us. The only people being there is his parents and sibling and my dad, grandmother and sister. I love that it is romantic, and from him to me, but i have no idea what to wear. I do not wanna do a typical wedding dress but i want to have a dress that is appropriate, not too expensive and something that when we go out to dinner after wards( Ruth Chris most likely) it is not something that is not so obvious.



So, any ideas on what I can wear that is appropriate?What to wear to a wedding that a your fiance is surprising you with?

I know the girl that said have him pick it out cuz he's a control freak was trying to be rude, but that might be a good idea. Since he is planning the wedding he will know what would be best for you to wear. And if he isn't comfortable with that then maybe have him come with you so he can help pick something out.
I suggest going to any local evening dress store and find a knee-length silk or satin white dress (that is, if you still want white). I think it would look nice as a bride, but also unobvious. I am Canadian, so the kinds of stores I am thinking of are Le Chateau or Laura, but I'm not sure those stores are in the states.What to wear to a wedding that a your fiance is surprising you with?

well definitely wear white, so wherever you go that day people know you're the bride! like you said don't get a full length gown, but find a cute semi formal or cocktail dress in white, or black %26amp; white. you don't have to do a veil or tiara but maybe a jeweled headband, if you find one you like take it to your stylist about a month in advance for a hair trial appt. definitely get your hair done on the wedding day and your makeup too, even if you're not hiring a photographer. you only get married once! god willing.
What about a short wedding dress? It still has that wedding-y "feel", but won't look crazy out to dinner.
